(PCM) With Jennifer Lopez‘s time as a judge on the show likely expired, speculation has taken over to whom her successor would be. With names such as Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, and recently Adam Lambert making rounds, the Show’s executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe has added his prefrences: Jerry Lewis and Charlie Sheen.Â
Winning?
Although Lythgoe did not say if he was serious or not, Sheen has reportedly entertained the idea. However, there are a few conditions that need to be met for Lythgoe’s wish to come into fruition. FX, the network that airs his new show “Anger Management” must sign off on any proposed deal. Yet, companies are not the only thing keeping this collaboration from happening, the money must be  right. The Controversial Actor has stated, “If the numbers move the needle and “Idol” matches 20% of my weekly salary for Autism Speak..then the hell with it. As we say in the biz, pour the smoke.” Jerry Lewis, who is in Nashville directing a stage adaptation of “The Nutty Professor”, has not commented on the idea yet.
It appears as if “idol” is jumping the proverbial shark with this one. With another Judge set to leave, it appears as if Idol is running low of ideas to keep the aging show relevant and fresh to the public. Adding Charlie sheen will most likely alienate more of the deteriorating fan base, (2012 finale showed a 29% ratings drop from 2011′s finale) as the move for Sheen seems more as a publicity stunt than an actual healthy addition to the show.
